South Africa's Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters bested 91 other candidates around the world to win this year's Miss Universe during the pageant's coronation night held at The Axis at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.
The 22-year-old business management graduate is the second South African to win the much coveted crown after Margaret Gardiner in 1978, ending a nearly four-decade drought for her country.
Meanwhile, Miss Colombia Laura Gonzalez was named first runner-up and Davina Bennett of Jamaica was announced second runner-up.
Philippines' Rachel Peters made it to the final top ten before being eliminated.
